GLCA/CAM Team To Host 2nd Construction Career Fair

February 2002 — The Great Lakes Construction Alliance and the Construction Association of Michigan are teaming up again to present the 2nd Annual Greater Detroit Construction Career Fair Feb. 26-27 at Oakland Community College in Auburn Hills. The event is planned to run from 9am to 4pm both days.

Because the first Career Fair last year was so popular, bringing in more than 900 construction professionals and trades workers, the fair has been extended to a second day this year. The first day will focus on students bused in from metro Detroit schools, while Day 2 will be promoted to the general public and will be open to all construction industry professionals and tradesepeople.

The Greater Detroit Radio Group and its radio stations WCSX Classic RockÐ94.7ÐFM, 101WRIFÐFM, and WMDC Magic 105.1ÐFM are presenting the construction career fair. The event has been extensively marketed on the three radio stations in recent weeks in approximately 400 commercials. There will be live radio broadcasts at the event. The career fair will be targeted toward Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb counties, and will promote the construction trades to four main focus groups identified by GLCA and CAM: students and student “influencers,” career changers, experienced tradespeople, and experienced professionals.
