With its headquarters and main fabrication plant in Ferndale, and fabrication facilities in Redford and Jackson, Overhead Conveyor Company offers 110,000 square feet of capacity in Michigan. Founded in 1945, the company is a major supplier of conveyor systems for assembly, machining and casting plants. OCC is composed of two subsidiaries: J.L. Peters Co., Detroit, a structural steel fabrication and erection company headquartered in Detroit, and Spurgeon Co., Ferndale, a material handling operation specializing in the design and production of non-ferrous metals ingot casting and stacking machines. The company offers turnkey capabilities for its conveyor systems featuring mechanical and structural expertise, project management, design, fabrication, erection and start up of systems - all while customer operations are ongoing. Overhead Conveyor also designs and installs such related specialized equipment as lift tables, power rack transfers, decking hoists, bridge cranes and hoists, stacking machines, bar handling equipment, and more.
