Nelson Iron Works Inc.
Established in 1925 in Detroit by John Knill Sr., Nelson Iron Works qualifies as one of the oldest fabricators in Michigan. Its current president is John Knill III; John Glass is the CEO, and Diane Grabowski is the office manager. Specializing in the fabrication and erection of unusual and difficult design projects, the company was honored by the GLFEA for proficiency in the steel fabrication and erection for the Sterling Heights Library in Sterling Heights. Other notable projects include the McCauley Center in Farmington; Cross of Christ Church in Bloomfield Township, Northville High School, and Seaholm High School in Birmingham.
